A three-wheel buggy has excellent stability, which is the reason it is a great choice for off road walking (especially with an all terrain or off-road style seat unit). These buggys often have oversized front tires that are able to handle bumps, kerbs, and rough terrain. Some models have a lockable wheel in the front to give you additional stability when driving on uneven terrain.

It's important to remember that 3 wheel running stroller-wheel buggies have a lower center of gravity than the 4-wheeled versions and, therefore, could fall more easily. But, the top 3 wheel pushchair travel system-wheel pushchairs are designed with perfect geometry and engineering to ensure that they remain stable in all conditions. They should be able turn at a whim and be easy to steer using one hand. They also come with a 360o rotating front wheel, which makes them ideal to navigate difficult terrain.

For extremely difficult surfaces, look out for a model with air-filled tyres also known as pneumatic tyres, which are designed to handle non-paved tracks and are able to deal with mud, gravel, rock and so on. Many all terrain 3 wheel stroller-terrain buggies have an swivelling front wheel that can be locked to provide stability when dealing with extremely rough ground too.

A 3-wheel pram is also an excellent option for runners and those who like to walk fast and uphill, particularly if you're planning to attach a car seat or carrycot. The Roma Atlas is an excellent model. It features the flat-reclining seat, five-point harnesses, and plenty of storage space to keep all your gear (plus an extendable 50+ sun hood). It's lightweight, compact, and suitable to use from birth. It can be used in conjunction with the car seat or carrycot. It can also be used for light jogging, but it's not designed for serious runners.

Weight

If you are looking for a buggy to tackle terrain that is difficult, you should pick one with big tires. They will be able to handle grass, cobbles, and dirt tracks while providing a smooth ride for anyone. They are also ideal for jogging because they come with built-in suspension and are easy enough to climb up and down kerbs. However, the trade off is that they can be quite heavy to push.

The Mountain Buggy Urban Glide 2 is the best 3 wheel buggy for use on rough terrain (pictured above). This 3 wheeler pushchair-wheel buggy has 16 rear wheels with a lockable swivel front wheel which makes it very maneuverable. It comes with air tyres which do need occasional pumping and it can be used to carry a child until the age of 3. MFM reviewer Kath said that her toddler loved the design of the seat and found it easy to steer even with her 3-year-old son on the board.

Another option that is great is the Baby Jogger Versa GT, that comes with an adjustable handlebar and a hood made of high-quality with 50+ UV protection. It is also easy to move kerbs upwards and downwards, and can fit into the boot of a car that is small. It can also be used as a stroller and an infant carrycot or toddlers.

Fabric slings are placed within the frame, not on top like modular seats. This design has a lower centre-of-gravity at the perfect height. It is easier to push, and lighter to kerb-pop (you can't underestimate the number of times you'll need to do that as a brand new parent!).

Seating

The seating capacity of 3 wheelers is quite impressive, and there are a number of different options to choose from. The included carrycot plus is ideal for a newborn (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a comfy and cozy lay-flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy). Older babies and toddlers will enjoy the spacious and padded seat unit with adjustable ventilation. It's important to note that these seats don't recline fully however they can be lowered to the lowest position that will still allow your child plenty of headroom and space to move around.

A fabric sling seat is also available. It is positioned snugly inside the frame instead of over the top of a modular seat and this gives a lower centre of gravity and perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, especially on bumpy terrain or over curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this kind of seat handled the obstacles.

This type of buggy has an enormous basket, along with other features that are useful, such as an hood that can be extended with 50+ UV protection, an easy to use brake pedal and a few innovative lights for visibility which can be put on the front of the passengers to ensure safety when riding on rough terrain.

MFM's reviewers found that the 3 wheel travel stroller-wheeler frames couldn't fit through their home's doors or car boot. If you're worried about space, be sure to check out the dimensions when the buggy is folded prior to purchasing.

Tyres

Air filled tyres are made to provide your child with more comfort while riding by cushioning out bumps and uneven surfaces. They are typically used on pushchairs such as the Phil & Ted's Sport, which MFM reviewer Kath said provided "an outstanding ride for her toddler". She also noted that its grippy tyres made it easy to navigate cobbles and kerbs.

These tyres can sometimes prove difficult to maintain and will need to be filled regularly. These tyres are more susceptible to punctures, so it is recommended to always carry a repair kit as well as an spare inner tube with you when you're out and about.

PU tyres are more commonly used on pushchairs because they are less expensive than tyres filled with air, but they are just as durable. PU tire are easily identifiable by their matte finish and supple feel. They also slide across flat and tidied surfaces.

ickle-bubba-venus-max-jogger-stroller-black-space-grey-black-1071.jpgYou can usually tell the difference between air-filled and PU tire by running your fingers over each one, if it feels hard, then it's made of rubber, if it slides then it's a PU. You can also test if your buggy is fitted with PU tyres sliding them on an even, smooth surface. They should roll easily and fit comfortably into wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can handle the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. The drawback is that the foam could shrink and make your buggy appear less stable since it loses its springy feel. These tyres also make a lot of noise because they generate a lot noise when you turn and navigate around the town.
