Window-Repairs.-150x150.jpgAs time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. It is crucial to keep the same dimensions as the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

The top screw's location, the lever and the keyhole size are the three measurements that you need to check. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement door handles doors. This kind of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is available from a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite handles are made from robust materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and run off the same spindle and screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to suit any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shorter lever can be used for doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles commonly found on doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with a spindle and screws which allow them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when they are not in use.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

After you have identified the correct size of PZ, you will need to ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles are available in left and right handed models, allowing them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Door Handles (Articlescad.Com) Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, allowing them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with both internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is crucial; it is dependent on the way your doors and handle are used. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This helps stop the attack and protect your doors.

There are cylinders constructed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a faster and simpler method to gain access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned in the base of the door handle replacement handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. In the past, a lot of these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as these aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a hole specifically cut in your backplate in order for them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplates of door handles of many kinds of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes offer an excellent value solution for the problem of door handles for internal bifold doors that have become sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC door. For more information on our range of uPVC accessories and spares, you can get in touch with our team.
